Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Halyk Finance. Before becoming the head of the Investment Banking division of Halyk Group, he worked as securities trader, sales, head of securities desk, head of trading desk, and director of treasury in JSC Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan. Graduated from The University of Warwick with MSc Economics in 2004 and Kazakh National University with Economic Cybernetics specialization in 2003. Received CFA qualification in 2009.

Investment Officer at AIG Silk Road Capital Management Ltd., the largest private equity fund in Kazakhstan, from 2000 to 2003. From 1998 to 2000, worked at various positions in Treasury of JSC ABN AMRO Bank Kazakhstan and in ABN AMRO Pension Asset Management Company (“ABN AMRO KUPA”). Worked at the Equity Options Department of Warburg Dillon LLC, the investment banking arm of UBS, from 1997 to 1998. Teaching Assistant at the Finance Department of the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania from 1996 to 1997.
Arnat Abzhanov holds a Master’s degree in Economics (1997) from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (1995) with Summa Cum Laude academic distinction from Allegheny College (Meadville, USA). Graduate and Silver Medal recipient of the Special Republican Physics and Mathematics School named after Dr. Zhautykov.
