Overview
Goltsblat BLP is the first Russian international law firm established as a result of a merger between one of the biggest teams of Russian lawyers (partners and lawyers from Pepeliaev, Goltsblat & Partners), and the major UK law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP). Goltsblat BLP currently has over 90 Russian and UK qualified lawyers, including 12 partners. Goltsblat BLP offers full scope of legal services, including comprehensive legal support for complex projects and cross-border transactions.
Private equity is one of the core areas within Goltsblat BLP / Berwin Leighton Paisner corporate practice. Due to rapid market development in Russia in the last few years we made a decision to establish a dedicated private equity group to ensure we can deliver the best possible services to our clients in this area.
Private Equity and Venture Capital Group of Goltsblat BLP / Berwin Leighton Paisner consist of private equity lawyers based in Moscow and London. We also have corporate lawyers based in our Paris, Singapore, Brussels and Abu Dhabi offices.
We act for private equity houses, management teams, business angels and a number of the larger and mid-tier institutional investors. Transactional work is partner-led, with a client relationship partner responsible for ensuring that the client's needs are serviced efficiently and at the most appropriate level.

WHAT WE OFFER:
Our Moscow private equity team consists of both Russian and UK qualified lawyers, who can handle any stage of private equity transactions from one location commencing with the Due Diligence exercise and advice on restructuring of the target group, up to and including transaction, implementation, completion and post-completion arrangements.
Our private equity team provides full service advice, supported by in-house specialists in areas such as banking and structured finance, tax, real estate, antitrust, commercial, restructuring and insolvency, employment and executive benefits.
We have a strong market presence and recent experience in many industry specific sectors including energy, PFI, infrastructure, IT, telecoms and broadcasting, real estate, hospitality including, in particular, restaurants, hotels and conferencing, leisure, retail, gambling, real estate, healthcare and distressed/turnaround situations.
In structuring transactions, we pay great attention to our clients’ needs to manage risks and realize returns. We look for opportunities to help our clients to minimize or hedge downside risk and post-closing exposure, while preserving economic upside. Also, we structure the investment to provide our client with a market efficient mechanism to exit an investment.
Our expertise covers advising private equity funds and investment banks in connection with their investments in companies, located not only in Russia, but also in CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and other countries of the former Soviet Union.
